Options Counseling

Options Counseling is a free service funded by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs in partnership with the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission. This program is designed to help you make informed decisions about your care and the setting in which you receive it.

Personalized Guidance and Support

Options Counselors provide:

  • Unbiased information about long-term services and supports
  • A consumer-driven approach that respects your choices
  • Guidance on assistive devices and home modifications
  • Information about services that can help you remain at home
  • Referrals to experts in specific disability-related areas
  • Details on available funding to help cover service costs
  • Follow-up support and assistance with planning next steps

They can also help you create a personalized care plan and connect you to local resources and supports to help you stay active and independent in your community.

Who Is Eligible?

Options Counseling is available to:

  • Individuals with disabilities
  • Older adults (age 60 and over)
  • Caregivers and loved ones of eligible individuals

Where Can You Meet?

Options Counselors can meet with you in a location that’s most convenient for you, including:

  • Independence Associates’ offices in Brockton
  • Hospitals or nursing facilities
  • Your home
  • Other community settings
